What we've been up to

The Inventors Workshop

During Term 1, the big question for all of Worser Bay School was: How are connections made? The year began with a whole school visit to the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition at the NZ Academy of Fine Arts to provide a context for the classroom discoveries that followed.

The Inventor's Workshop

School-wide activities were based around investigations into Da Vinci's simple machines and saw students exhibit some deep-thinking to invent and construct their own "machines" within clearly defined boundaries. The students needed to be able to explain their inventions, which had to have the aim of making someone's life easier. The results were innovative and inspiring. On 8 April, the children presented their inventions to their peers and parents at The Inventor's Workshop, a wonderful celebration of learning for the wider school community.

Stars in our Eyes!

We had a blast working on the 2008 production "Fast Forward Rewind Play".  With help from teachers and parents the children created the script, choreography, costumes, props, publicity and promotion. The theme of the production was based on "Celebrating Our Place"; children explored the local area and history through time travel.

The School Fair - Ahoy Me Hearties!

Worser Bay School is well known for its community fair which attracts many hundreds of people and is an important part of our annual fundraising effort.
